World Standards Converters

Frequently Asked Questions

For all World Standards Converters, see our Standards Converters Comparison Chart.

Q I want to record and play tapes in NTSC or in any other world system.
A You will require a multi-region Video Player/Recorder with a built-in converter (please note - playback machines will not let you RECORD other Regions)
-
Q I already have an NTSC playback VCR.
A These particular VCRs output in the pseudo signal PAL 60.
-
Q My DVD player is imported from the USA.
A We would recommend all digital models for recording.
-
Q I have an NTSC camera and want to view on my UK TV.
A We would recommend any of the digital models.
-
Q I want to record using the S-VHS output of my DVD player.I want to record using the S-VHS output of my DVD player.
A Only the CDM830TR, CDM680, CDM640, CDM160, CDM660 can offer this facility on pure NTSC 3.58 - ensure your TV and VCR are S-VHS compatible, otherwise you'll only receive a black and white picture.
-
Q I cannot view (Region 1) NTSC discs from my multi-region player BUT Region 2 is Okay?
A That is because most multi-system players output a psuedo signal called PAL60 when playing Region 1 (NTSC) - although most modern television can now read this signal older models cannot. It means investing in a new TV or buying a digital world standards converter which will allow both viewing and recording. We recommend the Lektropacks CDM630 and higher quality models.
-
Q I require a World Standards Converter with a PC Output for my Plasma/LCD etc?
A Yes there are models available with a 15pin D Sub (VGA) output connector.
-
Q I want to take my TV abroad?
A Go to Television Standards by Country, note the signal types of the country you are leaving and the country you are going to, then call the experts at Lektropacks on +44 (0) 208 847 2776 as this can be problematic.
