Video Distribution

RF Distribution & AV Distribution

Video distribution is getting a strong clean signal (regardless of source) to all the AV destinations with the home/office etc. This involves gathering the signals, amplifying and finally distributing.

RF

Firstly be clear about what signal you are dealing with – in this case you are are distributing Radio Frequency Signals. The signal is captured by an aerial and forced down shielded coax cable to a socket in the main room. From this socket you can add an RF amplifier/distributor, which will take the single input, amplify the signal strength to give equal outputs at each designated output on the unit.

Or you may prefer to do this within the loft (for example) which would require cutting and terminating the coax cable running down from the aerial and then inserting the RF amplifier/distributor at this point and then taking the appropriate feeds from here to the rooms required.

Modulating

Sometimes it is necessary to get an RF output from a piece of equipment that only has AV connections; i.e. connecting a DVD Player to an older style television with only a RF input or getting the picture from a DVD player in the lounge to the bedroom. Using a RF Modulator can do this. Simply take the AV signal from the output of the device (DVD player) and input the signal into a RF Modulator; the modulator will then convert the AV signal back to RF, it can then be connected to a television with only an RF input or with a combiner fed with your terrestrial television RF signals.

Unfortunately Lektropacks' RF Modulator CVS5 was discontinued by the manufacturer

Distributing AV

When you require to transfer one video signal to multiple screens or recorders at the same time, you will require a AV Distribution Amp.

Using simple splitters is not enough as the original signal is being split between the outputs and thus weakening the signal strength. By using an AV Distribution Amp this will ensure that the original signal input is amplified and distributed to each output port at equal strength, therefore retaining perfect picture throughout.

Lektropacks supply various AV distribution amps for Analogue or HD signals - Distribution Amplifiers
